Built for a spelling list
Paste the week's words straight in, one per line. The tool cleans up stray punctuation and spacing, scrambles each word, and numbers them. Because the questions and the key come from the same list in the same order, the numbering cannot drift apart — a failure mode worth caring about when you are copying thirty sheets.
Printing
The print layout strips the site navigation, the sidebar and the tool controls, leaving just the worksheet on clean paper. Check the print preview and set margins to normal; most browsers fit 30 questions on a single page.
Getting the difficulty right
- Ages 5–7 — three to five letters, ten questions is plenty.
- Ages 8–11 — five to eight letters, fifteen to twenty questions.
- Ages 12+ — subject vocabulary works well: keywords from a science topic or a set text.
Mixing lengths within one sheet helps. Starting with a couple of easy ones builds momentum before the harder words arrive.
Other ways to use a sheet
Scrambles are not only for spelling. Try them for revision keywords before a test, for icebreakers with a new group, or as an early-finisher activity. Pair one with the guessing game for a round that works on the whiteboard.
Common questions
How many words can I use?
Up to 30, one per line. Anything shorter than two letters is skipped automatically.
Does printing include the answers?
The answer key is collapsed on screen but prints with the sheet. Open it before printing to check it, and print a pupil copy by closing it first if your browser honours that.
Can I save it as a PDF?
Yes. Choose Save as PDF in your browser's print dialog instead of a printer.
Is there a cost or a signup?
Neither. Nothing to register, no watermark, no limit on how many sheets you make.
