Score first, alphabet second
Inside each word-length group the results are ordered by Scrabble points, so the plays worth making surface first. The banner at the top spells out the single best word as tiles, each showing the letter's value, which makes it easy to eyeball where the points are coming from.
Two games, two scoring systems
Scrabble and Words With Friends do not agree on letter values, and the difference changes which play is best:
- G — 2 in Scrabble, 3 in Words With Friends.
- H — 4 in Scrabble, 3 in Words With Friends.
- U — 1 in Scrabble, 2 in Words With Friends.
- Z — 10 in both, and worth building around in either.
The best-word banner shows both totals so you are not doing the conversion in your head.
Hooks and extensions
Most Scrabble points come from attaching to what is already on the board, not from playing into empty space. Use the starts with filter when you want to build off a letter that sits to your left, and ends with when you are aiming at a letter to your right. The contains filter helps when you need to cover a specific premium square.
Chasing the bingo
Using all seven tiles is worth 50 bonus points, far more than most single plays. Set the length filter to 7 and see whether anything is there. If nothing is, the second-best move is often to dump awkward tiles cheaply and keep a balanced rack for next turn.
Common questions
How do I enter a blank tile?
Type ? where the blank goes. A rack of quazie? means six letters plus one blank. Blanks score zero, and the tool subtracts them from the total it shows.
Are board bonuses included?
No. The scores shown are face value for the tiles only. Double and triple squares, the 50-point bingo bonus for using all seven tiles, and cross-words are all down to where you place the word.
Which dictionary does it use?
It opens on a curated everyday list and can switch to a 178,000-word tournament list. That list is close to standard English word-game dictionaries but is not an official TWL or SOWPODS file — check your club's rulebook for competition play.
Does it suggest where to play on the board?
No. It works from your rack alone. Board placement, hooks and parallel plays are still yours to figure out.
