Longest words first, so you can stop reading sooner

Most word finders hand you a wall of three-letter words and let you dig. This one sorts by length, then by Scrabble score, and puts the single best word in a highlighted row at the top with its letters laid out as tiles. If the top answer is the one you needed, you are done in a second.

Narrow the list when it gets long

Seven letters can produce several hundred words. Four filters keep that manageable:

  • Starts with — for when a letter is already on the board.
  • Ends with — useful for hooking onto an existing word.
  • Contains — find plays that cover a specific square.
  • Word length — jump straight to the six-letter answers.

The length buttons above the results do the same job with one tap.

Scores and meanings included

Every word shows its Scrabble value. The best word also shows its Words With Friends value, because the two games score letters differently — a G is worth 2 in Scrabble and 3 in Words With Friends, and that gap decides plenty of games.

Tap any word to see a short definition, or press Show meanings to open all of them at once. It is a fast way to check that the word you are about to play is one you can actually defend.

Two dictionaries, one button

The tool opens with a curated list of about 38,000 everyday words. That keeps the answers readable. When you need the full competitive list, press Add rare game words and it loads the complete 178,000-word set — every valid two-letter word, every obscure vowel dump, the lot.

Word lists differ between games and regions. Before a tournament, check your answer against the official dictionary your game uses.

Common questions

How many letters can I enter?

Up to 18, including blanks. Beyond that the result list gets too long to be useful, so the tool asks you to trim it.

What does the ? do?

It stands for a blank tile and can become any letter. You can use up to three. Blanks score zero points, and the tool works that into the score it shows you.

Do I have to use every letter?

No. The word finder shows anything you can build from some or all of your tiles. If you need words that use every letter exactly once, use the anagram solver instead.

Why are some obscure words missing?

The default list sticks to words most people recognise. Press Add rare game words under the results to switch to the full 178,000-word tournament list.
