Jumbled words

Enter the jumble exactly as it appears. Only answers that use every letter once are shown, which is usually exactly what the puzzle wants.

How a daily jumble works

The standard format gives you four scrambled words. Solve each one, then collect the letters sitting in circled positions and unscramble those to get a punchline answer. This page handles both stages — feed it the individual jumbles first, then the collected circled letters.

Getting a clean answer

Because only full-length words appear, most jumbles return a single row. When two or more show up, the definitions settle it: tap each one and pick the word that fits the cartoon or clue.

When the letters will not resolve

Jumbles are deliberately hard to read, and a misread letter is the usual culprit when nothing comes back. Check the ones that look alike in print — rn against m, l against I, O against 0. If you are genuinely unsure of one letter, replace it with ? and let the tool try every possibility.

Solving them yourself

If you would rather improve than look it up, two habits help most. First, hunt for common endings — -ing, -ed, -er, -tion — and set those letters aside. Second, pull the vowels out and see how the remaining consonants want to cluster. Come back here to check your answer rather than to find it.

Common questions

Why does it only show full-length words?

Newspaper jumbles use all the letters, so a list padded with shorter words would only slow you down. If you do want the shorter ones, the word unscrambler shows everything.

The puzzle has circled letters. Does that help?

Those circled letters feed the final bonus answer, not the current word. Solve each jumble here first, note the circled letters, then enter those as a fresh jumble.

Nothing came back. What went wrong?

Usually a mistyped letter — a jumbled word is hard to proofread. Re-check the puzzle, then try the full dictionary button under the results.

Can I solve the bonus answer here?

Yes, if it is a single word. Multi-word bonus answers need splitting up by hand first.
